6 Months?

SIX MONTHS? Wow. That's a long time not to post. I'm sorry! I have to say that I'm so blessed to have such a busy life and to finally be able to do everything. I may not keep up, but I can get up!

What I want to say is brief and to the point. I know, by personal revelation and through my own experiences, that there is a living prophet on the Earth today. You can find out if it's true with your own "proof". Pray. Ask God the Father if indeed there are prophets today as there were before Christ's resurrection. Don't take my word for it! You can know for yourself!

An Easter Message

Click HERE for a beautiful message about the Savior, Jesus Christ.  I invite you to watch the video...it is one of the most beautiful and powerful messages I have ever heard concerning the sacrifices Jesus Christ made and His experiences during His life here on Earth.

You're Invited to the General Conference Internet Broadcast

Twice a year the LDS Church holds a world wide meeting called General Conference. The leaders of our Church speak to the entire world. It is this weekend - April 4 and 5.

It is broadcast over the Internet at http://lds.org/broadcast/gc/0,5161,8584,00.html and www.byu.tv

This is a wonderful opportunity to hear from the leaders of the Church themselves. These are the things we are taught and believe. We study their words, advice and guidance. They help us to become better people and to understand the Lord's plan with greater clarity.

FREE Nursing Cover!

There is the cutest website that is offering a free nursing cover right now. It's at www.uddercovers.com and if you type in the promo code onefree you can get a pink or blue one for free, plus the cost of shipping. The printed ones are full price, I think. This is for real - I got mine yesterday in the mail and it is so cute. It's a local Utah company in Lehi.

They also have the coolest breastfeeding product I've ever seen called Milk Bands for moms like me who forget how long it's been and which side you ended on. www.milkbands.com I think I'll order one today!

Just my little plug for local Utah businesses and cute things!

Pray, Pray, Pray

It is amazing what a sincere prayer with an earnest heart can do. The Lord never withholds His answers from me. Speaking peace to my heart is one of the greatest "answers" I can get. I am continually amazed that He answers me, even when I am not doing all I should be doing. I am so grateful for this gift He has freely given us. No matter where we live in the world, no matter what suppression we may be under, no matter how lost we may feel, we always have the ability to pray.

I will begin my attempt to get back to the "finer" things in life, which to me are of a spiritual nature, by getting on my knees more often than I have been.

Spiritual Slump of sorts

I think not feeling well and health problems can present a unique challenge sometimes.  We can either let our faithfulness slide and become spiritual slackers or we can turn our hearts in faith to the Lord.  I have a dear friend who has had more than her fair share of health issues with her children and her own body - she has chosen to do the latter.  She is an inspiring example of steadfastness, enduring to the end, faithfulness, hope and optimism.  And she never lets down.

Then there is me.  I am ashamed to say I have let my difficulties with this fourth and final pregnancy bring me down rather than lift me up.  I have slacked on everything from reading my scriptures regularly to family prayer to family home evenings.  My church attendance is out of my control, but that has been a struggle also.

I don't have much else to say about this except that I hope I can turn my heart to the Lord and look to Him for strength as I did when I had the miscarriage rather than continue to make excuses for why I'm committing sins of omission.  I have been given many examples to follow and it's time I begin to follow them.

Faith without works

Is faith enough to get us back to our Heavenly Father?  Did Jesus really do all the legwork himself through His great sacrifices and suffering?  IF we have faith, isn't that enough for Him?  We find the answer to this question in James.  "...faith without works is dead".

He goes on to use Abraham as an example:

21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?
22 Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect?
23 And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.
24 Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.

This is a gospel principle that differs greatly with many other faiths.  I am so grateful to have a testimony that this is true.  It may be more difficult to add works to faith, but it is essential.  I have experienced and seen first hand the work of faithful followers of Jesus Christ. Some have faith great enough to move mountains, and their works always follow. There is work to be done.  There are commandments to be obeyed.  There are untold blessings awaiting those who follow this simple principle.
